Design and Layout

The design and layout refers to the branded template / framework in which your web pages are displayed i.e. the banner, menu and footer.

For a website design template similar to this one and others within our Examples of Work pages the cost would be approximately £100 to £150. For this very reasonable price you would get all the features and benefits listed on our Design and Layout page.

Extra costs might include things like the production / re-production of any logos, taking photographs for the banner or the production of a Favourites Icon (displayed in the browser address bar).

Although we would recommend this classic design for the reasons given on the Design and Layout page, we can produce a website to whatever your individual needs and tastes are, but the cost would be likely to be higher due to the additional work required.

Standard Pages

For most standard pages, the cost would be approximately £25 to £50 dependent on what was on it.

Typical examples of pages include:

• Information Page - £25
  Example: About Blackpool
  A basic information page with text. Price would include up to five pictures to accompany the text.
• Photo Gallery Page - £25 to £50
  Example: Beach Scene
  A photo gallery page with introductory text and labelled photos in a scrollable gallery. Price would include up to 20 photos. Exact price would depend on how many photos you wanted and whether or not they needed scanning and resizing.
• Frequently Asked Questions Page - £25
  Example: FAQs
  A formatted frequently asked questions page listing all questions at the top as links to the relevant question and answer below. Price would include introductory text and photo and up to 30 questions and answers.
• Useful Links Page - £25
  Example: Useful Links
  A useful links page with introductory text, a disclaimer, group headings and links information including organisation title, brief descriptive text, website address and small logo. Price could include up to 20 links, dependent on how many logo images needed to be created.
• Contact Us Form - £25
  Example: Contact Me
  On-line contact form with fields to suit your organisation's needs which provides a confirmation screen and formatted email.

Note, bulk discounts could be applied for websites that require high numbers of standard pages.

Complex Features

For more complex and / or interactive features such as on-line databases, shopping baskets, dynamic news items, forums, on-line payments, customer logins, ability to update own pages, on-line bookings, etc.. the price would be subject to your requirements.

As stated earlier, easierthan can be as flexible as you need and we will always try to offer you the choice of low cost alternatives as well as "bells and whistles" solutions.

Other Potential Costs

Additional optional costs that might arise include:

• Assistance in getting your site linked to from other sites. This is something that you can do easily yourself or alternatively we can help you with. Help could be basic training and instruction, an automated form for you to use or even easierthan trawling the internet for you to find potential links.
• Training for you or staff on internet usage, how to get the site noticed or updating your own content. This could include manuals or worksheets.
• Logo creation. In most cases the logo in the banner will be included in the cost of the template, but there might be a cost if you haven't got a logo (and want one) or the one you have needs to be reproduced from poor quality printed material.
• Photography, if you require us to visit your premises separately to take digital photographs for the website.
• Help transferring Domain Names (e.g. www.yourcompany.co.uk) from existing suppliers. We can also help you challenge someone who has your domain name if they are using it as a Phishing site or similar.
• Production of a Favourites Icon (displayed in the browser address bar) based on your logo or trade.

In all of the above cases, cost would be very much dependent on your particular requirements.

Annual Costs

One unavoidable annual cost is your domain name (e.g. www.yourcompany.co.uk) and the webspace on which your site is hosted. We can register a domain for you (or help you transfer it) and help out by taking care of the renewal fees.

Costs for this are between £5 and £40 annually, which also includes the webspace on which your site is hosted. The very cheapest option is a sub-domain of our easierthan website e.g. www.yourcompany.easierthan.co.uk, suitable for clubs and societies, but maybe not professional enough for most businesses.

Maintenance Contract

Another optional annual cost is an agreed flat maintenance fee to cover the cost of updates to the site. During the year it is quite likely that you'll want to tweak or change the site slightly with small updates such as:

• changes to telephone numbers / contact names
• needing to add, change or delete text
• adding useful links where you have agreed a reciprocal link with the other party
• new photos for a photo gallery

An example contract of £30 for 10 small updates would work out much cheaper than paying for each update separately.

A maintenance contract means you save time and money as there is no need for separate invoicing, therefore no need to pay our administration costs and no need for you to write ad-hoc cheques.

Any unused updates at the end of the year could be carried over to the next year.
